Colborne Royal Canadian Legion 187

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 187 Colborne has been a proud sponsor of bingo in Northumberland County since January 1995. The legion, situated on King St. E in Colborne was established in 1931. The legion serves the veterans, and members of Canada's Armed Forces and their families, as well as local area seniors, youth and community groups. It also serves as Colborne's cooling centre during the extremely hot and humid days in the summer. Together with the Colborne Optimist Club, the legion organizers and sponsors the annual Colborne Santa Clause parade. Bingo funds are used to support these needs.

The branch offers a variety of activities, many of which are open to the community at large. These include a dart league, pool tournaments, line dancing, a seniors club, "teen dances" and an annual golf tournament, as well as a monthly roast beef dinner and another themed monthly dinner. We participate in local community events, such as Apple Blossom Festival, trash and treasurers weekend, July 1st and Labour day events. The branch has a banquet room, which is available for rent for individuals as well as for community groups. Catering for events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and funeral teas can be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary at very reasonable rates.

Membership is open to anyone (not just those involved with the military) and membership offers further benefits, such as participation in a wider variety of sports events - darts, bowling, euchre, cribbage or pool. The club room offers a place for members to meet and socialize.

Our dedicated Bingo team enjoys meeting and chatting with the many players at Cobourg's Hometown Bingo at least once a month. Please feel free to ask any of the team about our programs and services whenever you see us at the counter.
